At Lawrences, we’ve always believed that the value of something isn’t just in what it’s worth, but in the story it tells and the future it can help shape. That belief doesn’t just apply to the items that come through our salerooms, it extends to our community, too. That’s why we’re proud to support the Crewkerne Rugby Club Under 11s, a team that represents much more than sport.
During a recent weekend visit, some of our staff had the chance to see first-hand how our sponsorship is making a difference. The funds have helped the team acquire essential equipment, including post protectors to keep players safe. These vital additions provide a secure environment where children can explore the game with confidence and freedom.
The sport is giving these children more than just physical exercise - It’s instilling discipline, teamwork, and a sense of purpose. There’s a shared energy and camaraderie that’s hard to miss.
It reminded us of how our auction house operates. Every auction is a result of a dedicated team working together. From valuers to cataloguers, photographers to porters, each member plays a critical role. Watching the players on the pitch, we saw those same principles in action—teamwork, trust, and collective effort. It’s these qualities that drive success in both rugby and business.
Paul, the club’s chairman and coach, shared insights that left a lasting impression. He told us about one young player who used to struggle with focus at school. Since joining the rugby team, he’s found structure and support, which has had a ripple effect in the classroom. He’s more attentive, more cooperative, and more engaged in his studies. It’s just one of many stories where sport has helped young people grow not just as athletes, but as individuals.
This transformation wouldn’t be possible without the unsung heroes behind the scenes. All of the club’s coaches are volunteers, giving up their time to train, mentor, and support the players. On event days, the local Scouts pitch in too, helping with food and logistics. These efforts, often unnoticed, are what keep the club running smoothly despite not owning the facilities they use. It’s a testament to what community spirit can achieve.
Supporting Crewkerne Rugby Club Youth is more than a sponsorship for us. It’s a partnership grounded in shared values—collaboration, dedication, and care. Just as we honour the provenance of the items we auction, we honour the importance of investing in people and places.
We left the grounds feeling more committed than ever to supporting initiatives like this. Our investment isn’t just financial, it’s personal.
